Dates not to be missed in 2027
From Dry January, which begins on 1 January, to the festive season, each period offers its own opportunities for promotion.
The year begins with Epiphany on 6 January, International Hot and Spicy Food Day on 16 January and International Italian Cuisine Day on 17 January. In February, there’s Candlemas on 2 February, Chinese New Year on 6 February, International Pizza Day on 9 February and Valentine’s Day on 14 February.
In spring, the occasions multiply: European Artisan Ice Cream Day on 24 March, National Cheese Day on 27 March, Easter on 28 March, followed by World Cocktail Day on 13 May, World Bee Day on 20 May and International Tea Day on 21 May…
The arrival of summer, meanwhile, heralds the season for picnics and social gatherings. June in particular features World Milk Day on 1 June, World Cider Day on 3 June, followed by International Sushi Day, Sustainable Gastronomy Day and International Picnic Day on 18 June.
As the new school term begins, and then as the festive season approaches, the highlights come thick and fast once again: International Coffee Day and World Cocoa and Chocolate Day on 1 October, World Food Day on 16 October, Halloween on 31 October, Beaujolais Nouveau on 18 November, World Olive Tree Day on 26 November, World Raclette Day on 13 December, Christmas on 25 December and New Year’s Eve on 31 December.
All these occasions should be incorporated into your 2027 marketing plan right away.
How should you use the 2027 food marketing calendar?
A recurring theme is only worthwhile when it provides a relevant opportunity to talk about your offering. The aim, therefore, is not to promote every date on the calendar, but to select those that resonate with your business, your products and your customers.
A tea brand could naturally organise a campaign around International Tea Day on 21 May 2027, whilst a shop offering a fine selection of cheeses could capitalise on National Cheese Day on 27 March or World Raclette Day on 13 December. For others, major consumer events such as Easter on 28 March, Mother’s Day on 30 May, the summer, the start of the new school term or Christmas on 25 December will be more strategic occasions.
Based on these dates, there are numerous possibilities: showcasing a selection of products, in-store events, tastings, special offers, social media posts, newsletters, recipes, editorial content or collaborations with other brands.
The benefit of the calendar is precisely that it allows you to plan these communications in advance, rather than discovering these recurring themes just a few days before they arrive.
Epiphany – January 6, 2027
National Cheese Day – March 27, 2027
International Tea Day – May 21, 2027
Mother’s Day – May 30, 2027
World Raclette Day – December 13, 2027
Christmas – December 25, 2027
2027: a year to start preparing for now
Certain dates also provide an opportunity to address topics that go beyond the product itself. For example, the 2027 calendar includes World Water Day on 22 March, International Zero Waste Day on 30 March, International Plant Health Day on 12 May, Sustainable Gastronomy Day on 18 June and the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste on 29 September.
These key events can provide an opportunity to highlight commitments, expertise, production methods or new ways of consuming.
The challenge, therefore, is not so much to be present on every date as to build a coherent editorial and commercial calendar, by identifying in advance the events most relevant to one’s brand or business.
Gourmet Selection: the event not to be missed in June 2027
Among the dates to note: 13 and 14 June 2027, when Gourmet Selection will bring together professionals from the fine food sector at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles.
Grocery retailers, restaurateurs, food artisans, retailers and producers will come together over two days to discover products, develop new commercial opportunities and analyse industry trends.
