Karine Martin, manager of the fine food shop ‘La Trotteuse’, answers the questions of the Gourmet Selection team during the 2024 edition of the event.
Karine Martin has created ‘La Trotteuse’, a delicatessen in the heart of the old town of Rennes. She offers some 800 products, mainly home-made, French and local, as well as fresh cookies, on sale Fridays and Saturdays. She was at Gourmet Selection 2024.

Tell us about your business?

I set up my own grocery shop just over two years ago, in the heart of the historic centre of Rennes. I sell sweet and savoury products, most of them home-made and most of them sourced locally. I also sell drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, as well as a selection of teas.

What are today's trend products?

If I take drinks as an example, alcohol-free drinks are really on the rise. Aperitif kits, crackers and tapenades will also be popular. There will also be sweet Breton products. Like galettes, palets and Breton cakes.

What do you expect from Gourmet Selection?

I came for the first time in 2022, just before I opened my own delicatessen. The show enabled me to meet a few producers. At the 2024 edition, I'm delighted because I've discovered new products and new producers. I hope to be able to include them in my shop range soon.
